Responsible gambling for UK players
Free help for UK players
If gambling is causing you or someone close to you harm, contact one of these services now, before you place another bet.
In England and Scotland, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. In Wales, call the NHS Wales Helpline on 0808 2819 265.
Both numbers are listed on the GambleAware get help now page. The lines serve Great Britain only, and GambleAware says: “These support services are available only to Great Britain residents.”
Keep it in proportion
Set a budget and a time limit before a series starts, and stop when either is reached. Esports matches can run at any hour and in-play prices can move quickly, so it is easy to bet faster and for longer than you planned.
Use the limits, breaks and other safer gambling tools in your bookmaker's account, and set them while you are calm. Each bookmaker's tools count toward the account and safety part of how we rate esports bookmakers.
A boosted price, a free bet or a big tournament is never a reason to raise a limit or chase a loss. After a loss, step away rather than place the next bet to win it back.
Self-exclusion covers esports betting too
Gamstop is the way to block every site licensed in Great Britain at once. Its own words are: “When you register with Gamstop Online you’ll be blocked from accessing gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain.”
Gambling businesses are required to have their own self-exclusion arrangements in place, so you can also exclude yourself from one bookmaker alone. A block applies to the licensed site or app as a whole, so it covers esports betting as it covers any other betting there.
Another bookmaker, or a sister site of one, is never a way around a self-exclusion. Where a bookmaker's rules extend an exclusion to linked accounts, it covers them, so do not open another account to bet while excluded.
Adults only
Gambling is for adults only. In most cases, the minimum legal age for gambling in Great Britain is 18, and this site is written for readers aged 18 or over.
If a device is shared with anyone under 18, keep betting accounts and saved payment details off it. Set a passcode that only adults know, and turn on the content filters in the device or network settings to block gambling sites.
