Review
William Hill review for UK players
William Hill suits an esports bettor who wants a large mainstream sportsbook with an esports section, in-play betting and a sports free bet paid in three parts. Its esports coverage runs past the four games this site follows, and it has apps for iPhone and Android. The feature set is its weakest point in our rating. Every bookmaker listed on this site holds a Gambling Commission licence, and William Hill is no exception. Our rating is 3.8 out of 5. Our team tests and checks every fact on this page, and the byline carries the date of the last check.
Esports at William Hill
William Hill carries esports inside its main sportsbook. League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and Valorant each have betting, and StarCraft 2 and King of Glory sit alongside them.
The bet types William Hill names for esports are the winner of a match, the correct score, the winner of the first, second or third round, who draws first blood and the first turret destroyed in a MOBA. The match winner bet is called Match Betting. Tournament winners are offered as outrights, for example the champion of a StarCraft event or the winner of a Street Fighter tournament. Our guide to esports betting markets explained describes what each of these bets means.

Welcome offer and esports bets
New UK customers who register with promo code R30 can take the William Hill sports welcome offer. The first deposit must be £10 or more. The qualifying stake is a £10 single bet from main balance at minimum odds of 1/2+, placed on any sports market except Virtuals. Once that bet settles, £30 in free bets is credited, as three £10 free bets.
The free bet expiry is 7 days, and the offer ends on 31 December 2026. Deposits made with PayPal, Neosurf, Paysafe, Apple Pay, NETELLER, Skrill, ecoPayz, Kalibra/Postpay or the WH PLUS Card are excluded from the offer.
For how this offer sits next to other bookmakers' welcome deals, see our guide to esports betting offers.
Other promotions
Price Boost raises the price on certain esports markets. #YourOdds lets a customer ask William Hill to price up an esports bet that is not on the board, by tweeting the request with the hashtag.
An eSports Acca Boost for 26/27 has its own entry in the sportsbook menu.
Betting features
In-play betting
Bets on events that have already started pass through an automated time delay before William Hill accepts them. If the price on a selection changes before you press Place Bet, the betslip updates by itself. After you press it, a marginal price change means the bet is accepted at the larger price. A bigger change means the bet is not placed and is offered again at the new price.
Score and time shown during a match are a guide, and William Hill accepts no liability if they are wrong. A market can be suspended when something significant happens or is likely to, as time passes, when it becomes uncompetitive or for technical reasons. No bets can be placed while a market is suspended.
Cash out
Cash Out is part of the William Hill sportsbook, and Plus lets a customer add, track and cash out in-shop bets online. Cash Out may be unavailable while a market is suspended.
Live streaming
William Hill runs a live streaming service called WHTV. Live transmissions by some broadcasters, WHTV included, can run behind the action, and the delay varies between customers with connection and buffering speed.
Maximum winnings
The maximum payout on esports is £25,000 on tournament outrights and match winner markets and £10,000 on all other esports markets. The figure is the most one customer can win, excluding stake, in one day's betting, whatever the stake and whichever channel the bets came through.
When bets are placed on different days, the day that counts is the one on which the final event on each bet is resolved. If a bet combines selections from different categories, the lowest cap applies.
Deposits and withdrawals
William Hill takes deposits by debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, NETELLER, Skrill, ecoPayz, Neosurf, Paysafe, PaySafeCard, Kalibra/Postpay, EPS and Trustly. Withdrawals can also go by bank transfer. The minimum deposit is £5 with Apple Pay or a debit card, and £10 with PayPal, NETELLER, Skrill, ecoPayz, PaySafeCard, EPS and Trustly.
Apple Pay withdrawals are immediate. PayPal, NETELLER, Skrill and ecoPayz take 1 working day. PaySafeCard, EPS and Trustly withdrawals go by bank transfer and take 3-5 working days.
Withdrawal limits are set by method. PayPal runs from £10 to £5,500, Apple Pay from £5 to £33,000, NETELLER from £5 to £30,000, Skrill from £5 to £80,000 and ecoPayz from £5 to £99,000.
William Hill charges no fee on any deposit method, though some banks may. It also charges no fee on PayPal, NETELLER, Skrill, PaySafeCard, EPS or Trustly withdrawals. PaySafeCard may charge a fee of its own, and online banking fees may apply on EPS and Trustly.
Mobile app and site
William Hill offers one sports betting app for iPhone and a separate one for Android. Customers who download the mobile application can choose to receive notifications.
Customer support
Live Chat is the support channel for UK customers. It is also where a customer asks for access to specific products, Gaming, Poker and Bingo, to be blocked. Self-service articles cover My Account, Payments, Sports Betting Rules, Gaming, Promotions, Betting Shops, Legal and Safer Gambling.
Account, verification and complaints
Players must be 18 or over, and under-18s may not hold an account or gamble. William Hill checks age and identity at registration and on an ongoing basis, and it may also check the source of funds and affordability. If a check cannot verify age and identity, the account is suspended and deposits are blocked until documents arrive.
Accepted ID includes a passport (recommended), driving licence, national ID card (front and back), electoral ID, residence permit, age card or Citizen/YOTI Citizencard (UK only). A second document no older than 6 months is also required: a bank statement (recommended), utility bill, council tax bill, tenancy agreement, insurance policy or signed credit agreement. Source-of-funds checks can ask for certified ID, bank statements or a photograph of the customer holding their ID documents.
A customer may hold only one account at a time. An inactive account has an administration fee of £3 deducted from any balance. An account cannot be opened while a self-exclusion is in force with William Hill, another operator or Gamstop.
To complain, start with Live Chat. If the answer does not settle it, the Second Opinion team takes the complaint further. If you are still unhappy, including where no final response has come within 8 weeks, the matter can go to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS).
Licence and company

The Gambling Commission account number is 39225. WHG (International) Limited is further licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner. It is a registered IBAS bookmaker.
How William Hill compares
William Hill is rated 3.8 out of 5, ahead of Midnite at 3.1 and behind Unibet at 3.9 and Betway at 4.2. On the welcome offer, William Hill pays £30 in free bets for a £10 bet at qualifying odds of 1/2+. Midnite also pays £30 for a £10 bet but asks for qualifying odds of 1/1 (2.0), which are longer, so William Hill leads Midnite on the entry price. Betway pays £40 for a £10 bet at odds of 2.0, and Unibet pays £40 for a £20 bet, so both pay more than William Hill. On features, Unibet lists cash out, a bet builder, live streaming, acca insurance and odds boosts, and Midnite lists a bet builder and odds boosts, while cash out is the only feature counted in William Hill's rating. On esports, William Hill names League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Valorant, StarCraft 2 and King of Glory, with a £25,000 cap on outrights and match winner bets. Betway lists Esports among 29 sports with in-play betting, and Midnite lists esports with a £25,000 cap.

Safer betting at William Hill
Set limits before a series starts, not during it. Esports matches run at every hour and in-play prices move quickly, so decide the budget for a match before it begins. Set a deposit limit and a time limit, and a loss limit where the tool offers one.
William Hill's tools include deposit limits, time-outs, session time reminders, product blocking, account closure, self-exclusion and Parental Controls. A free bet, a price boost or a big final is never a reason to raise a limit or chase a loss.
Gamstop blocks you from gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain in one registration. If gambling is causing harm, the National Gambling Helpline (England and Scotland) is on 0808 8020 133 and the NHS Wales Helpline (Wales) is on 0808 2819 265. GambleAware also lists support services, which are available only to Great Britain residents.
